GOVERNOR MUTFWANG PRESENTS SERMON AT COCIN RCC GARKI, ABUJA, TASKS BELIEVERS ON PEACE AND UNITY
In a moving demonstration of God’s purpose and plan of salvation for humanity, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reminded Christians of God’s unending love and charged believers to embrace peace and unity as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Governor Mutfwang delivered this message on Sunday while serving as Guest Preacher at the 2025 RCC Abuja Combined Fellowship and Fundraising event. The programme was organized to support the purchase of land for Local Church Councils (LCCs), as well as the construction of the RCC Secretariat and a Church Guest House, held at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Regional Church Council (RCC), Garki, Abuja.
The Governor urged the congregation to live lives that daily reflect the character of Christ, noting that COCIN has produced many respected individuals who have not only advanced the growth of the body of Christ but have also influenced governance and policies for national development.
Preaching from John 17:20 under the theme “The Cry of Christ for Unity”, Governor Mutfwang emphasized that the true measure of the gospel’s growth is not in the multiplication of church buildings but in effective evangelism that wins souls into the Kingdom.
He reminded believers, especially those of COCIN heritage, of the great sacrifices made by early Christians to propagate the gospel they freely enjoy today. According to him, “The only thing that pleases God is when we continuously seek peace and unity with one another and refrain from the pull-him-down syndrome.”
Governor Mutfwang likened the propagation of the gospel to a relay race, stressing that no believer must allow the baton to stop with them. He asked, “What are you doing to promote the gospel? What are you doing to ensure that this relay is sustained? May the gospel never suffer a setback because of you. And if it will not, may the prayer of Jesus Christ be fulfilled in our lives, that we may be one.”
Quoting from Psalms, he added: “It is good and pleasant when God’s people dwell together in unity. If the gospel must advance, we must stop fighting one another and allow the Spirit of God to bind our hearts.” He called on Plateau people, and by extension the Middle Belt, to love one another and remain united for the progress of the region and the nation.
Earlier while welcoming the Governor and his entourage, the Chairman of RCC Abuja, Rev. Shadrach Yousuf Panle expressed delight at his presence, saying: “I am thrilled to have you join us as we gather to worship, learn, and grow in our faith together.”
