GOVERNOR MUTFWANG INAUGURATES GOVERNING COUNCILS FOR PLATEAU STATE-OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS, TASKS THEM WITH DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang on Wednesday inaugurated the newly appointed members of the Governing Councils of two state-owned tertiary institutions.
The inaugurated councils are for the
College of Agriculture Garkawa and the College of Arts, Science and Technology Kurgwi, also inaugurated the Chairman, College of Nursing and Midwifery Vom.
Represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, he said the constitution of the councils marks a significant milestone in the state’s journey towards harnessing the full potential of the educational system.
“Today, we rise to the challenge of developing the educational system in Plateau State and we do so with a sense of purpose, determination, and collective responsibility.
“Your role is to ensure that you critically think through issues and give policy direction to the institutions as you oversee their activities to ensure that it is in line with the rules and regulations establishing them.
“You are expected to bring your wealth of experience to bear in repositioning the institutions for improved Academic Standard, Infrastructural Development, and Effective Policy Implementation.
“These Governing Councils are tasked with the critical responsibility of driving our state's educational development agenda which is to improve the quality of education in the whole state across all tiers of institutions,” he said
Governor Mutfwang said his administration’s vision is to create an educational system that is equipped with the skills, knowledge, and competencies required to drive growth and development to improve outcomes and increase access to quality education for all citizens.
He urged all members of the councils to approach their responsibilities with a sense of urgency, passion, and commitment.
The Governor called on the management of the institutions to support and collaborate with the
councils in its efforts to drive these institutions forward and ensure that they fulfill their mandates.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman of the Governing Council, College of Agriculture Garkawa, Prof. Emmanuel Kwon Ndung, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve.
He assured the State Government of the councils’ collective resolve to support the transformation of the state education sector.
The newly appointed council members are Prof. Emmanuel Kwon Ndung, (Chairman) Dr. Oliver Ndam, Dr. Akims Mamot, Hon. Mustapha Usman Ahmed, Dr. Philemon Haggai, Gyang Dung Chuwang, and Dr. Emmanuel Gimba as members, College of Agriculture, Garkawa.
Others are Dr. Gimba Dikop, (Chairman) Dr. Enoch Banbilbwa Joel, Hon. Sunday Niagwan, Mr Pam Yohanna Isa, Dr. Ponsak Sale, and Mr. Izang Itse Azi, College of Arts, Science & Technology.
