TINCITY METRO RESUMES TRANSPORT CARD SALES AT FIVE LOCATIONS AS MUTFWANG’S TRANSPORTATION REFORMS GAIN MOMENTUM

Hon. Samuel Gwott Commended for Responsive Leadership and Commitment to Commuters’ Convenience
In a significant boost to public transportation and commuter convenience in Plateau State, TinCity Metro has resumed the sale of its transport cards at five designated locations following repeated requests from commuters.

The development represents another positive step towards improving public transportation services under the administration of His Excellency, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, whose commitment to infrastructural renewal, improved mobility, and people oriented governance continues to attract attention.

The resumption of transport card sales reflects the broader commitment to strengthening the public transportation system, making commuting within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis more accessible, extending services to Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, and creating a more organised and efficient transportation network for residents of Plateau State.

This initiative is particularly commendable in a growing urban centre like Jos, where reliable public transportation plays a vital role in economic activities, commercial transactions, and the daily movement of residents to markets, schools, offices, and other destinations.

The TinCity Metro transport cards are now available for purchase at the following locations:
TinCity Metro Bus Terminal, Terminus.

Kugiya Roundabout.

Farin Gada Roundabout.

Zawan Junction.

Airport Roundabout, Heipang.

While the majority of Plateau residents continue to patronise TinCity Metro and appreciate Gov. Mutfwang's intervention in the transportation sector, there is a need for the management to pay greater attention to the customer relations and work ethics of its employees.

Although the introduction of the metro bus service has provided relief to many commuters, certain practices by some staff members have continued to generate complaints among passengers.
A typical example is the situation in which commuters wait for a bus for an extended period, only for it to arrive at a bus stop with its entrances locked, leaving passengers standing in a queue under the scorching sun without any explanation.
When passengers inquire about the delay in allowing them to enter, they are sometimes told by the personnel at the entrance that the staff are eating inside the bus and that the doors will not be opened until they finish.

While everyone deserves time to eat, such situations should be handled with courtesy, consideration, and professionalism. Where a short break is necessary, passengers should be informed politely and given a reasonable explanation. Where practicable, passengers could also be allowed to board the bus while staff members take their meals, provided this does not compromise safety or operational procedures.

But leaving commuters standing in a queue under the scorching sun without adequate explanation, particularly when some are rushing to work or attend to other important engagements, can cause unnecessary frustration and undermine public confidence in the service.

It is important to acknowledge that some passengers may also behave rudely towards staff members. Nevertheless, mutual respect, patience, and professionalism should guide interactions between employees and commuters.
Although the popular saying that "the customer is always right" may not apply to every situation, customers deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of the circumstances. Employees must understand that their conduct directly influences the public's perception of the organisation they represent.

This raises an important question: would such treatment of customers be tolerated in a privately owned transportation company competing for patronage in a competitive economy?

As a public service provider, TinCity Metro should strive to uphold standards that demonstrate courtesy, accountability, and respect for passengers. The management, under the leadership of Hon. Samuel Gwott, is therefore encouraged to intensify staff orientation, improve customer relations, and establish clear service standards to address these concerns.
Addressing these complaints would complement the government's investment in public transportation and help ensure that commuters enjoy not only accessible transport services but also a pleasant and dignified travel experience.

Beyond customer relations, there is also a growing need to increase the number of buses in operation to accommodate the rising demand for TinCity Metro services
This growing patronage reflects the importance of the metro bus service to the daily lives of residents. However, increasing demand can place pressure on the available fleet, resulting in longer waiting times and inconvenience for passengers.
The provision of additional buses would help ease this pressure, improve service frequency, reduce waiting times, and enable more commuters to reach their destinations conveniently.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang's efforts in the transportation sector have attracted appreciation from residents who have benefited from the availability of metro bus services.
For many commuters, the service provides an alternative means of transportation for their daily activities, helping them connect with workplaces, schools, markets, and other essential destinations.

The importance of this intervention lies in its direct impact on the general public. Transportation is a critical component of socioeconomic development, and improvements in this sector can contribute to greater mobility, commercial activity, and access to essential services.
Residents' appreciation of the initiative reflects the value they place on accessible public transportation. At the same time, their expectations for additional buses, improved customer relations, and more efficient operations highlight the need for continuous improvement.

As the saying goes, "Oliver Twist asks for more." In this context, the growing demand for better and more accessible transportation services should be understood as an indication of the need to sustain and expand an initiative that commuters have come to rely upon.

Alot of commuters have alot of complaints and experiences, but untill then, God bless Plateau!
