GOVERNOR MUTFWANG ENGAGES CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS, FORMER LEGISLATORS, COUNCILLORS AND ACADEMICS FOR TINUBU/MUTFWANG 2027
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq, has held strategic consultations with critical stakeholders, former legislators, serving councillors, former local government chairmen and academics to strengthen peace and unity, build political consensus and position Plateau State for greater national relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagements, held at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos, on Thursday October 29, 2026, centred on the need for Plateau people to transcend political differences, consolidate their electoral strength and speak with one voice to attract greater development and opportunities to the state.
The Forum of Former State Legislators, led by Rt. Hon. Joshua Madaki Izang, commended Governor Mutfwang for his developmental strides across the 17 local government areas of the state. The forum, comprising former legislators who served under various political parties, pledged to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang in the 2027 general elections.
The forum formally endorsed both leaders through a motion moved by Hon. Sadat Garga and seconded by Hon. Kaneng Gyang Fulani. It also appealed for greater representation of its members in the campaign council.
Welcoming the delegation, Governor Mutfwang described the former legislators as custodians of invaluable institutional knowledge and experience that could guide the younger generation and contribute meaningfully to the state's development.
He urged them to rise above partisan affiliations and unite around a common Plateau agenda anchored on peace, unity and prosperity.
The Governor stressed that the time has come for Plateau to consolidate its political strength and secure a stronger voice in national affairs. He explained that his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was driven by the need to reduce political rivalry, foster collaboration and advance the collective interests of the state.
He cited the ongoing Akwanga–Jos Road and Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Kanke–Shendam–Ibi Road projects as examples of the benefits of constructive engagement and collaboration with the Federal Government.
He expressed confidence that stronger political cooperation would open further opportunities for infrastructure and development.
Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving security, healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation, urban renewal and tourism, noting that deliberate investments across these sectors were laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and improved livelihoods.
The Governor also held strategic consultations with the Forum of Serving Councillors led by Hon. Buba Allahyafi Samson, the Forum of Former Local Government Chairmen, led by Hon. Joseph Guluwa, and Academics for Tinubu/Mutfwang 2027, led by Prof. Lazarus Maigoro.
The discussions reinforced the importance of unity, grassroots mobilisation and collective political participation in ensuring that Plateau State commands greater attention in national decision-making and attracts development that benefits its people.
Governor Mutfwang called on all stakeholders to embrace a shared vision for the state, stressing that Plateau's diversity should remain a source of strength and that its future prosperity depends on a united people working towards common goals.
