GOVERNOR MUTFWANG CHARGES CHRISTIANS TO PREACH CHRIST, PROMOTE UNITY AS FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH JOS MARKS 115 YEARS

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq., has called on Christians to remain united in faith, purpose, and commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, emphasising that the preaching of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection must remain at the very heart of the Christian faith.
The Governor made the call during the 115th anniversary celebration of First Baptist Church, Adebayo Street, Jos, held under the theme; “Advancing Through Impactful Celebration.”
‎
‎Governor Mutfwang commended the church for 115 years of faithful service to God and humanity, expressing hope that its legacy would continue to inspire spiritual growth and meaningful contributions to society.
‎
‎“115 Years is no mean feat, and our prayer is that the Lord who has begun this good work will perfect it in Jesus name. Therefore, Feasting on Scriptures is the right thing to do, is the right way to go. That is the only way the Gospel can thrive when we preach Christ and Him crucified. Nothing more, nothing less,” he said.
‎
‎He also congratulated the newly elected President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Reverend David Olushola Idowu, praying that his leadership would usher in a revival that would extend beyond the Baptist Convention to the wider Body of Christ.
‎
‎“May the Lord through your hands bring a revival that will spread beyond the Baptist Convention into the Body of Christ,” the Governor prayed.
‎
‎He thanked the church for the invitation and described 115 years as a significant milestone, praying that God would perfect the good work He had begun and lead the church to greater heights.
‎
‎Earlier, in his sermon, Reverend Idowu, focused on Psalm 100:4. He admonished the congregation to continually seek God's presence as a pathway to spiritual growth and advancement.
‎
‎Idowu also identified enlightenment, revelation and renewed strength as blessings believers experience in God's presence, encouraging the church to remain committed to advancing God's kingdom and impacting lives.
‎
‎The anniversary featured praise and worship, special thanksgiving, prayers, goodwill messages and the cutting of the anniversary cake, with members of the church, past and present pastors, government officials and other dignitaries in attendance.
