SHENDAM LGA CHAIRMAN GETS GLOWING COMMENDATION FOR QUALITY PERFORMANCE

The Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Ephraim Usman Gar, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of projects and performance of the Shendam Local Government Council under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe.

The Commissioner, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jonathan Dabo, and other top officials of the ministry, visited Shendam on Wednesday, 17th September 2026, as part of the ongoing statewide tour of the 17 Local Government Areas in Plateau State.
The visit started with a courtesy call at the palace of the Long Gamai, where the team was received by the District Head of Shendam, before proceeding to the Local Government Secretariat.

Receiving the commissioner's delegation at the LGA Secretariat, Hon. Dr. Nshe welcomed the Commissioner and his team and presented plaques as a mark of appreciation from the Shendam Local Government Council. He then led them on an inspection of several projects across the council
.

From a long list of people-oriented projects, the delegation was able to visit the renovated Secretariat Complex, Computer-Based Centre, Shendam Sports Centre, Ultra-Modern Stadium, Ward A Primary Healthcare Centre which is currently under renovation, Police Staff Quarters, Directors’ Quarters, and NYSC Doctors’ Quarters.

During the tour, Hon. Nshe highlighted the vision behind the projects, which is anchored on his commitment to infrastructural development and the provision of facilities that will improve the well-being of residents. He also extended an invitation to the Ministry to visit the ongoing Shendam Continental Hotel project in Abuja as work is progressing speedily. When completed, the project will not only boost the economy of the LGA but also become a monument of pride for Plateau.

The Commissioner later addressed stakeholders at the Shendam Youth Centre, where he engaged community representatives on issues of grassroots development and local governance. He gave glowing commendations to the Shendam LGA Chairman for the quality of work done and the steady progress recorded in the council.

The Ministry continues to inspection tour across the state to monitor projects and encourage effective service delivery at the local government level.
