PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR’S CUP KICKS-OFF OCTOBER 4TH AS DEFENDING CHAMPIONS AND 2ND RUNNER’S UP MEET IN A DIFFICULT GROUP

The 2026 Plateau State Governor’s Cup Gets Date And Venue As Defending Champions And 2nd Runners Up Find Themselves In Groups Of Death

The 17 local government councils on the Plateau will from the 4th of October, 2026, take to the pitch of play as the State oldest unifying grassroots football tournament takes center stage.

The 2026 Governor’s Cup, tagged: Mutfwang Solidarity Cup, will see the opening ceremony held at the Mikang Mini Stadium in Mikang LGA between last edition 2nd Runner’s Up, Langtang South football team and the hosts, Mikang local government football team.

In the draws conducted over the weekend and handled by the Plateau State Football Association, the defending Champions, Bokkos local government football team are in Group A and must battle it out with 2024 Champions, Jos North local government football team and the dreaded duo of Kanke local government football team and Kanam local government football team.

Another group tagged the Group of death alongside that of group A is Group D, where last edition 2nd Runner’s Up, Langtang South local government football team will battle it out with 2025 semi finalists, Jos South local government football team and 2026 semi finalist, Wase local government football team.

Apart from the opening ceremony in Mikang local government area, all other matches this year will be played in Jos South local government area.

It would be recalled that the last edition was won by Bokkos local government, Mangu local government came second, Langtang South local government came third and Wase local government came fourth.
