MINISTRY FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS INSPECTS ONGOING PROJECTS IN LANGTANG SOUTH LGA

As he continues to lead the ministry on a statewide assessment tour, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Usman, and his delegation were at Langtang South Local Government Area on Thursday, 17th September 2026, inspecting projects and assessing the performance of the Chairman, Hon. Nandi Nbin.

The tour commenced at Sabon Gida (Angwan Bwarat), where the Commissioner inspected a newly constructed shelter for military personnel as well as a 1-kilometre drainage system designed to mitigate flooding in the community.

Other projects included the modern market complex, construction works at the new market site, the Civil Defence Office, the New Secretariat Complex, and the installation of hundreds of streetlights.

A particularly significant highlight of the visit was the formal commissioning of the newly renovated Legislative Chambers of the Local Government Council. The Commissioner noted that the chambers, which were in a state of disrepair when the current administration assumed office, have now been comprehensively renovated to a standard befitting a legislative arm of government. He emphasised that such institutional projects, though sometimes less publicly visible, are vital for strengthening the structures through which government serves the people.

Hon. Usman commended the Local Government Chairman and his team for the quality of work executed so far and conveyed the continued support of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, for people-oriented projects across the state. He expressed satisfaction that resources allocated to the Local Government are being judiciously utilized for the benefit of residents.

Beyond project inspections, the Commissioner held interactive sessions with traditional rulers and stakeholders drawn from the various wards of Langtang South. During the engagement, community leaders presented their concerns, expectations, and priority issues requiring government attention. The Commissioner assured them that their submissions would be given due consideration in ongoing and future interventions.

The visit underscores the commitment of the Plateau State Government under Governor Caleb Mutfwang to transparent oversight, collaborative governance, and the delivery of tangible development at the grassroots level.
