"WE PLANNED TO VISIT ALL BEROM MONUMENTS WITH THE LATE DA PATRICK SILA"— Acting Gwom Rwei Du and Gwom Kabong, HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo

The Kabong and Du Traditional Councils, together with their illustrious sons and daughters, today paid a condolence visit to the Lo Chang family of Du following the passing of late Da Patrick Sila, former BECO Chairman of Du.

The delegation, which comprised of "Be Gwom" and "Be Da Manjei" from Du and Kabong, the Chairman of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM) Du Branch, the De Tula Du, representatives of other Registered Berom Organisations (RBOs) in Du and Kabong, as well as illustrious sons and daughters of Kabong and Du, was received at the residence of the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung.

The President of the Du Community Development Association (DCDA), Da Silas Pwajok Bot, eulogised the late Da Patrick Sila as a committed community builder whose remarkable contributions left an enduring legacy. He noted that the deceased served meritoriously as a Board Chairman of the renowned Berom Community Secondary School, Shehe, and also as the former BECO Chairman of Du, where he distinguished himself through selfless service and exemplary leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the Kabong and Du Traditional Councils, the Acting Gwom Rwei Du and Gwom Kabong, HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo, urged the Lo Chang family to take solace in the Lord, stressing that the late Da Patrick Sila had lived a worthy and impactful life. He fondly recalled their cordial working relationship during the deceased's tenure as BECO Chairman of Du, revealing that they jointly conceived a plan to visit all Berom monuments as part of efforts to document, preserve, and promote the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Berom.
"We planned to visit all Berom monuments together. Although death has interrupted that vision, we remain committed to sustaining his noble ideas and ensuring that his legacies live on," he stated.

The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, commended the leadership of DCDA, Kabong and Du Traditional Councils, Registered Berom Organisations (RBOs), and the illustrious sons and daughters of Du and Kabong for identifying with the Lo Chang family during this difficult period of mourning.

Hon. Silas Patrick Dung also reflected on his late father's commitment to the development of Du and Berom land. He described him as a man who approached every responsibility with dedication, determination, and a results-oriented mindset. According to him, the late Da Patrick Sila always chose the path of unity and progress, qualities that earned him the admiration and respect of many who regarded him as a mentor and father figure.

Responding on behalf of the Lo Chang family, the eldest brother of the deceased, Da Engr. Musa Gyang, a former staff member of the Benue-Plateau Bus Service who received professional training in Germany, expressed profound appreciation to the delegation for the visit and the show of solidarity. He recounted the late Da Patrick Sila's passion for helping others and his unwavering commitment to community development.
"He has gone to rest with his Maker, but the pain of his departure remains deeply felt by the family and the entire community," he said.

According to the elder statesman, Da Engr. Musa Gyang, the burial arrangements for the late Da Patrick Sila will be announced in due course.

The visit concluded with prayers offered by Ngo Kachollom Danjuma Hwere, who committed the bereaved family to God, praying for divine strength, comfort, and the grace to bear the irreparable loss.
