PLATEAU STATE MINISTRY OF LANDS, SURVEY AND TOWN PLANNING HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS' CONSULTATIVE ROUNDTABLE ON STRENGTHENING LAND GOVERNANCE
The Plateau State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning convened a Stakeholders' Consultative Roundtable on Strengthening Land Governance through Systematic Land Title Registration (SLTR) and Geographic Information System (GIS), with technical support from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC).
The consultative meeting, chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon. Barr. Peter Nyam Gai, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for improving land administration, enhancing tenure security, and promoting efficient land governance across Plateau State.,
In his remarks, Hon. Barr. Peter Nyam Gai emphasized the importance of systematic land title registration and the deployment of Geographic Information Systems as critical tools for modernizing land administration, reducing land disputes, improving transparency, and boosting internally generated revenue. He appreciated the Norwegian Refugee Council for its technical support and reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to implementing sustainable land governance reforms in line with the vision of the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
The meeting attracted representatives from the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Chairmen of Traditional Councils, the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), and other relevant stakeholders.
Participants engaged in productive discussions and made valuable contributions aimed at strengthening collaboration, improving land registration processes, and leveraging digital technologies to enhance land governance and sustainable development in Plateau State.
The roundtable concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to support the implementation of the Systematic Land Title Registration programme and the effective deployment of Geographic Information Systems for the benefit of the people of Plateau State.
