GOVERNOR MUTFWANG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO BOOST DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AS NIGERIAN COMPUTER SOCIETY PAYS COURTESY VISIT‎

‎Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to leveraging technology to drive governance, economic growth, education, and security across the state.
‎
‎The Governor stated this while receiving the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
‎
‎Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Society for choosing Plateau State to host its international conference despite negative narratives about the state. He commended the delegation for relying on facts rather than misinformation in the social media in arriving at its decision.
‎
‎"I want to thank you for the confidence you have in us by agreeing to allow us to host this conference. I want to appreciate those of you who stood firmly to discountenance any negative information about Plateau State," the Governor said.
‎
‎Highlighting his administration's digital transformation agenda, Governor Mutfwang stressed his government's determination to bridge the technology gap through strategic investments and partnerships despite ICT infrastructure challenges.
‎
‎"We have reached a very advanced stage in collaboration with our development partners to set up the BPO here in Jos. We have already conducted interviews and about 600 applicants are ready to take off their jobs," he stated.
‎
‎The Governor further reaffirmed his administration's commitment to expanding digital governance and strengthening public service delivery through technology

‎
‎"As part of the public sector, we will continue to promote the use of e-governance, e-commerce and everything that we can do in that sector," he added.
‎
‎Governor Mutfwang also revealed that technology had become a critical tool in combating insecurity in Plateau State, noting that recent deployments provided security agencies with a tactical advantage during an attack in Riyom Local Government Area.
‎
‎"We are leveraging on technology to face the security challenges... because of the deployment of technology, we were able to have advantage over them," he said.
‎
‎While acknowledging the opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence, the Governor urged Nigerian ICT professionals to proactively address emerging risks associated with the rapidly evolving technology.
‎
‎Earlier, leader of the delegation and President of the Nigerian Computer Society, Prof. Aliyu Sirajo, commended Governor Mutfwang for his administration's achievements in information technology and digital innovation, describing Plateau as a worthy host for the Society's international conference.
‎
‎"The selection of Plateau State was the most peaceful and the most seamless selection of our international conference. When Plateau State was announced, nobody objected and I am pleased that I have personally met peaceful people on the plateau," Prof. Sirajo said.
‎
‎He disclosed that after concerns were raised over security reports, the Society deployed an assessment team to the state, whose findings contradicted negative media narratives published on the social media about plateau state.
‎
‎"The report I had after their visit was, 'We do not see what the media is portraying and what people are saying,'" he stated.
‎
‎Prof. Sirajo further praised the hospitality of the people of Plateau State and attributed the prevailing atmosphere of peace and inclusiveness to Governor Mutfwang's leadership, while expressing gratitude for the support the state government has extended towards the successful hosting of the conference.
‎
‎He stressed the conference will support the effort of Governor Mutfwang to boosting the Digital Economy and to position Plateau as an emerging ICT hub, attracting technology companies, investors, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs.
