DU COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES A WORTHY ILLUSTRIOUS SON OF DU, BARR. IBRAHIM JAMES PAM

The Du Community Development Association (DCDA) has received with great joy the heart-warming news of the appointment of Barr. Ibrahim James Pam as the Acting Head of the World Bank Group's Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO), the institution's independent accountability office.

Speaking on behalf of the Du Traditional Council, the Elders Council, and the illustrious sons and daughters of Du, the President of the Du Community Development Association (DCDA), Da Silas Pwajok Bot, described the appointment as a source of immense pride and celebration for the entire Du community.

"This is indeed cheering news for our people. Barr. Ibrahim Pam has once again distinguished himself on the global stage, and we are proud of his remarkable achievement," he stated.

Barr. Ibrahim James Pam is a renowned Nigerian international lawyer and anti-corruption expert who has now been appointed as the Acting Director-General of the World Bank Group's Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO), the institution's independent accountability mechanism.

According to reports made available to the Du Traditional Council, the appointment, which was approved by the World Bank Group Boards, will take effect on 2nd August 2026. Barr. Pam, who currently serves as the Chair of the World Bank Inspection Panel, will oversee the CAO on an interim basis pending the appointment of a substantive Director-General and Vice President of the World Bank Group's Independent Accountability Mechanism.

The Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) investigates complaints from individuals and communities affected by projects financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), thereby promoting environmental and social accountability within the World Bank Group.

Commenting on the appointment, the Acting Gwom Rwei Du and Gwom Kabong, HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo, expressed confidence in Barr. Ibrahim Pam's ability to excel in his new role.

"There is no doubt that Barr. Ibrahim Pam will bring to this office his wealth of experience in international law, anti-corruption, human rights, compliance, and criminal investigations. His appointment is well deserved and is a testament to his competence, integrity, and outstanding professional record," he said.

Barr. Pam's distinguished career includes senior leadership positions with the United Nations, the African Development Bank, the International Criminal Court, and Nigeria's Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

A graduate of the prestigious University of Jos and the London School of Economics, Barr. Ibrahim James Pam is widely expected to strengthen the World Bank Group's accountability and oversight framework during this period of leadership transition.
