DCDA, DU/KABONG TRADITIONAL COUNCIL AND ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS CONDOLE GYEL TRADITIONAL COUNCIL OVER THE PASSING OF GWOM RWEI JOS SOUTH, HRH DA DR. NGA DANGYANG

The Du Community Development Association (DCDA), on behalf of Du and Kabong Traditional Councils, the Council of Elders, and the sons and daughters of Du and Kabong, has extended its heartfelt condolences to the people of Gyel District, the Jos South Traditional Council, and the immediate family of the late Gwom Rwei Jos South, HRH Da Dr. Nga Dangyang, following his demise.

The condolence visit was led by the Acting Gwom Rwei Du and Gwom Rwei Kabong, HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo, alongside the leadership of all the Registered Berom Organisations (RBOs) in Du and Kabong.

Speaking during the visit, the President of DCDA, Da Silas Pwajok Bot, described the late monarch as a revered custodian of the cultural values and traditions of Gyel and Berom nation at large, whose remarkable legacy will continue to inspire future generations. He noted that the demise of Da Dr. Nga Dangyang is a profound loss, not only to Gyel Traditional Institution but also to Jos South, Plateau State and the entire Berom nation, considering his decades of selfless service, exemplary leadership, commitment to peace and unity.

In his remarks, the Acting Gwom Rwei Du and Gwom Rwei Kabong, HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo, paid glowing tribute to the late royal father, describing him as an exceptional traditional ruler whose remarkable reign of over sixty-six years was characterised by uncommon wisdom, humility, and visionary leadership, putting him one of the longest serving monarch in Africa. 

He observed that the late monarch possessed extraordinary wisdom that surpassed formal academic attainment and devoted his life to fostering unity among the Berom nation, strengthening communal harmony, and serving as a father figure whose counsel, guidance, and exemplary leadership positively shaped generations across Plateau State.

HRH Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo also conveyed the condolences of the people of Du and Kabong to Gyel District over the tragic incident that claimed the lives of two women in the community. He assured them of the unwavering support, solidarity, and prayers of the people of Du and Kabong during this difficult period, while praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and God's comfort and healing upon all those affected by the unfortunate incident.

Responding on behalf of the Gyel–Jos South Traditional Council, Prince Victor Nga Dangyang expressed profound appreciation to the people of Du and Kabong for standing with Gyel in its moment of grief. He particularly thanked the traditional councils, DCDA, and the entire delegation for their show of love, unity, and solidarity.

Reflecting on the late monarch's distinguished sixty-six-year reign, Prince Victor described him as a man of immense wisdom, peace, and diligence, whose reign was devoid of controversy because of his exceptional leadership and fatherly disposition.

He further commended the leadership of DCDA for its unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among the Berom people.
He prayed for greater unity across Berom land, irrespective of district or community, and expressed hope that the process of appointing an Acting Gwom Rwei where necessary would continue to strengthen and preserve the traditional institution in Berom land.

Also in attendance were leaders of the Registered Berom Organisations (RBOs) in Du and Kabong, alongside illustrious sons and daughters of Du and Kabong.

While the "Be Lo Gwom Du" under the chairmanship of Da David Dung together with Da Joseph Dung Chollom, and family secretary, Da Peter Chuwang Bot handed a condolence letter to the bereaved family. 

The burial of the late monarch is scheduled to take place on Friday, 31 July 2026.

The condolence visit concluded with prayers led by Da Cabala Bako, Gwom Gura Loh Gaizeng, who prayed that Almighty God would grant the departed royal father eternal rest, comfort the royal family, strengthen the people of Gyel District and the Jos South Traditional Council, and grant all who mourn him the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May the gentle soul of HRH Da Dr. Nga Dangyang rest in perfect peace.
