BARR. J.K. CHRISTOPHER LEADS JOS NORTH DELEGATION ON CONDOLENCE VISIT TO JOS SOUTH CHAIRMAN OVER FATHER'S DEMISE

The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Barr. John Kyohroh Christopher, on Tuesday, led a high-powered delegation from the council on a condolence visit to his counterpart in Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, over the passing of his father, Late Da Patrick Sila Nyam.

The delegation included the Deputy Chairman, Alh. Kabiru Muhammad Garkuwa, the Secretary of the Council, Pharm.  Gyang Ishaya Samuel, supervisory councillors, special advisers, principal special assistants, assistants on media, and other key officials of Jos North Local Government Council.

Speaking during the visit at the Sila family residence in Rayfield, Barr. Christopher expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family. He urged them to find strength in faith, noting that death is a divine reality beyond human control and that the memories of a good life lived remain a source of comfort.
Describing the deceased as a dear father, not only to Hon. Silas but also to himself, Barr. Christopher said he considered Late Da Patrick Sila Nyam, a member of his extended family. 

"Dara was a man of wisdom, humility, and service. His wealth of experience and fatherly counsel will be greatly missed not just by his immediate family but by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him," the Chairman said.

He further noted that the late patriarch was an astute politician who served the people with dedication. Late Da Patrick Sila Nyam served twice as a Supervisory Councillor in Jos South and also worked in the local government system where he impacted many lives through his commitment to public service.

In his response, the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung appreciated Barr. Christopher and the Jos North delegation for identifying with the family in their moment of grief. He prayed for God’s protection and safe return for all members of the delegation.

Hon. Silas described his father as a man who lived a life of service and integrity.  
"My father left behind a legacy of hard work, community service, and love for people. He was a great teacher who touched the lives of his learners. That legacy will stand the test of time and will continue to guide us as a family," he said.

He also expressed appreciation to Barr. Christopher describes him not just as a colleague in governance but as a bosom friend and brother.  
"I pray that God will continue to see you through and strengthen you as you serve our people," Hon. Silas added.

The family announced that the late Da Patrick Sila Nyam will be laid to rest on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the family burial ground in Rayfield, following a Requiem Mass at St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church, Rayfield.

Barr. Christopher, on behalf of the Jos North Council, prayed that Almighty God grants the soul of the deceased eternal rest and gives the Dung family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
