BARR. J. K. CHRISTOPHER REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACE, UNITY AS BENUE ETHNIC LEADERS PAY COURTESY VISIT

The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Barr. John Kyohroh Christopher, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among the diverse residents of the Local Government Area.

Barr. Christopher gave the assurance on Tuesday at the Council Secretariat in Jos while receiving the leadership of the Coalition of the Three Ethnic Nationalities of Benue State, Tiv, Idoma, and Igede, resident in Jos North, led by the Tor Tiv of Jos North Local Government Area, HRH Ngugaana Benjamin.

While addressing the delegation, the Chairman decried the recent attacks and killings of innocent citizens in Plateau and Benue States, describing the incidents as painful and unacceptable.

He noted that despite the sustained efforts of state and local leadership to restore calm, lasting peace would require stronger federal intervention. He therefore called on the Presidency, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to further strengthen the security architecture in both states to protect lives and property.

Barr. Christopher thanked the coalition for the visit and for their contribution to the peace and economic life of Jos North.

He appealed for continued support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, stressing that collective effort is needed to achieve sustainable peace and development.

The Chairman also commended the Government and people of Benue State for honoring one of Plateau’s illustrious sons, Sen. Da Jonah David Jang, during the 50th anniversary celebration of Benue State. He described the gesture as a symbol of the historic bond between the two states.

Emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence, Barr. Christopher said, “This visit will further strengthen our relationship and our resolve to work together for the good of Jos North, Plateau State, and Nigeria at large."

Earlier in his remarks, the Tor Tiv, HRH Ngugaana Benjamin, said the visit was aimed at fostering deeper collaboration with the Jos North Local Government Council and to formally present the coalition’s united position in support of the Chairman’s administration.

HRH Benjamin commended Barr. Christopher for executing laudable developmental projects, people-centered initiatives, and programs that have impacted all residents of the Local Government Area without discrimination.

“Your administration has maintained constant engagement with relevant stakeholders in maintaining peace,” he stated.

The monarch also expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for appointing one of their own, Hon. Julius Egwarube, as Special Adviser, describing it as a clear demonstration of inclusivity and fairness. He urged the Chairman to sustain the tempo of good governance.

“This style of administration you are practicing is in line with ‘The Time Is Now’ agenda of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, who has demonstrated a high level of leadership that has placed Plateau on a progressive path,” HRH Benjamin added.

The traditional ruler offered prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for the Executive Chairman as he continues to steer the affairs of Jos North Local Government Council.
