JOS NORTH COUNCIL PARTNERS KNOLE AFRICA TO EQUIP 200 YOUTHS WITH DIGITAL SKILLS IN LINE WITH GOV. MUTFWANG ’S AGENDA

The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council,  Barr. John Kyohroh Christopher has urged participants in the Jos North Digital Training Acquisition Program to be disciplined, committed and build the right relationships in order to fit into today’s society.

The Execitive Chairman gave the charge today, during the flag-off of the maiden edition of a one-month intensive digital training programme designed to equip 200 youths across the 20 wards of the local government area with advanced digital competencies.

According to him, his administration is desirous to key into what His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State,  Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, is doing through the Commissioner for science technology and innovations, along with other agencies in  empowering the youth through digital training.

"This training program initiated by the  council in partnership with Kenole Africa under the Legit Lab initiative is not just another event but a deliberate investment in the future of our young people and a future prosperity of Jos North Local Government,"  he stated.

He assured participants that they would receive intensive training in high-demand areas such as Web Development, YouTube Automation, UI UX design, Digital marketing, and Web3 Basics, urging them to see the initiative as a launchpad for future success as "These are tools for innovation and self reliance," he added

The chairman encouraged the participants to maximise the opportunity by becoming entrepreneurs, innovators and job creators in the fast growing digital economy.

He assured the beneficiaries that the local government council has taken additional step by providing sufficient data weekly to each participant through out the duration of the programme.

"The training is going to be both physical and hybrid. We want to ensure that data does not become a barrier.  At the end of the programme,  participants will not merely receive the certificate but will be expected to demonstrate practical mastery of products and innovations acquired, he stated.

Declaraing the workshop open, the Executive Governor of Plateau State,  Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang,  who was represented by the Commissioner of Science,  Technology and innovation, Dr Clatus Bako Shirkuk, stated that Empowering young people with skills and opportunities remains central to building a productive, self-reliant, and peaceful Plateau.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to investing in human capital development, noting that the programme is designed to give participants practical skills that match the demands of today’s digital economy.

Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries at the event, including the Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency, Engr. Dominic Datong Gwaman, and the Plateau Youth Council Chairman for Jos North, Comrade Paul Mancha, among other stakeholders.

They commended the programme and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at equipping young people with practical, market-relevant skills.
