GOVERNOR MUTFWANG'S MEDIA AIDES VISIT KAWEL COMMUNITY, CONDOLE WITH VICTIMS, PROVIDE RELIEF SUPPORT
The Forum of Media Aides to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Monday paid a sympathy visit to Kawel Community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, following the recent attack that claimed the lives of innocent residents and left many others injured.
The delegation was led by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Gyang Bere, alongside the State Coordinator of the Forum, Comrade Dogo Nanzing. They said the visit was aimed at identifying with the bereaved families and the entire community during this difficult period, while conveying the Governor's heartfelt sympathy and concern.
Addressing members of the community, Dr. Bere said the Forum shares in the grief and pain occasioned by the unfortunate incident and unequivocally condemned the senseless attack on innocent citizens.
He noted that Governor Caleb Mutfwang remains deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and has continued to demonstrate unwavering commitment toward ending violent attacks across Plateau State through improved security collaboration, engagement, and coordinated action with security stakeholders.
Dr. Bere emphasized the need for unity among citizens, security agencies, traditional institutions, and government at all levels in confronting the security challenges facing the state, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective responsibility and sustained cooperation.
As a demonstration of compassion and solidarity, the Forum presented relief support to the affected families, with a view to easing some of the immediate burdens occasioned by the attack.
Responding on behalf of the community, the Chairman of the Youth Development Association, Mr. Samuel Domshak, expressed profound appreciation to the Governor's media aides for the thoughtful visit and humanitarian gesture.
He appealed to the government and security agencies to deploy a Mobile Police unit to Kawel Community to strengthen security and prevent future attacks.
Mr. Domshak described Kawel as a peaceful, accommodating, and resilient community whose people have consistently promoted peaceful coexistence and said they will not watch any individual taking over their land.
The Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Hon. Amalau Samuel, who was represented by the Council Secretary, Mrs. Gambo Malau, commended the youths of Kawel Community for their resilience, courage, and unity in the face of adversity.
He assured the community of the Local Government Council's unwavering commitment to supporting its people and working closely with traditional institutions, and other critical stakeholders to develop and implement effective measures aimed at preventing further attacks and restoring lasting peace.
