FORMER COMMISSIONER RETURNS, RESUMES AT LOCAL GOVERNMENT & CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS MINISTRY

The re-appointed Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Usman Gar has officially resumed duties at the ministry’s headquarters in Jos.

While taking over the leadership of the ministry, Usman expressed gratitude to God and Governor Mutfwang for the opportunity to continue the work already initiated by the Mutfwang administration, pledging to redouble efforts towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

The Commissioner assured that the ministry remains committed to fulfilling its promises and improving service delivery across the local government areas and called for continued prayer for Governor Caleb Mutfwang, President Bola Tinubu and others in leadership positions for them to succeed.

Hon. Usman further solicited the cooperation of the staff of the ministry in order to bring transformation to the grassroots and disclosed plans to embark on visits to all 17 local government areas of the state to assess the performance of the councils' chairmen, inspect and commission ongoing projects, and ensure that areas lagging behind are encouraged to improve upon.

Earlier, while handing over to the Hon. Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Yakubu Ishaya Mallo appreciated the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for giving the commissioner the opportunity to return to the ministry.

He described the commissioner as a diligent and principled leader, noting that during his absence, the ministry continued to draw inspiration from the impact and standards he had established.

Mr. Mallo assured the commissioner of the maximum cooperation of staff to ensure that the ministry, local governments, and the entire state succeed.

It would be recalled that Hon. Ephraim Usman Gar resigned from his position as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in March this year to contest election for the Plateau State Central Senatorial District.

The Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Mutwang, renominated him, was confirmed by the Plateau State House of Assembly, and thereafter administered the oath of office by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo and reassigned to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
