ACTING PROVOST, COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY ZAWAN, RECEIVES AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN INSTITUTIONAL TRANSFORMATION

The age-old principle of giving honour to whom honour is due was demonstrated today in Jos, Plateau State, as the Association of Health Record and Information Management Practitioners of Nigeria (AHRIMPN), Plateau State Chapter, honoured a distinguished educator and administrator, Mr. Ishaku Atangs, Acting Provost of the College of Health Technology, Zawan.

The Association marked its annual Health Information Practitioners (HIP) Week with the theme, "Guardians of Health Information: Driving Healthcare Transformation Through Technology." The week-long event commenced on June 4 and culminated today with paper presentations by Professor Sani Nasir on "Guardians of Health Information" and Dr. Richard J. Kutshik on "Understanding Public Perception of HIM Practitioners."

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of the Award of Excellence in Institutional Transformation to Mr. Ishaku Atangs in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the Plateau State College of Health Technology, Zawan. His leadership has brought academic stability and institutional progress, positioning the College among Nigeria's most sought-after institutions for health information managers.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of AHRIMPN, Plateau State Chapter, Comrade Benjamin Idi Bishtu, paid glowing tribute to Mr. Atangs' outstanding leadership and selfless service as Acting Provost, noting that the recognition and award were well deserved.

Comrade Bishtu extolled the sterling leadership qualities of Mr. Atangs and his transformative impact on the institution.

According to him, "Mr. Ishaku Atangs' leadership in transforming the College of Health Technology, Zawan, into one of Nigeria's most sought-after colleges of health is highly commendable. Therefore, the chapter is pleased to honour him with this Award of Excellence."

The Association also appreciated Mr. Atangs' role in training and mentoring the next generation of health professionals in Plateau State and beyond.

Responding to the honour, the Acting Provost, Mr. Ishaku Atangs, expressed profound gratitude to the Association for finding him worthy of the award. He described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, adding that it would inspire him to work even harder towards producing more competent health professionals through the College.

Mr. Atangs further highlighted the critical role of Health Information Management practitioners as the first point of contact in most healthcare facilities, emphasizing the importance of accurate health records in patient care and effective healthcare delivery.

He also pledged his support towards making future editions of the Association's annual event more elaborate, impactful, and successful.
