THE NGOLONG NGAS, HRM NDE JIKA GOLIT RECEIVES A HIGH POWERED DELEGATION OF THE MWAGHAVUL NATION LED BY HRM JOHN HIRSE,THE MISHKAHAM MWAGHAVUL IN HIS PALACE IN PANKSHIN AS HON. FELIX GONUNG CALLS FOR UNITY OF PURPOSE.

The Chairman of the Pankshin/Kanke Joint Traditional Council and the Ngolong Ngas, HRM Nde Jika Golit played host to the Mishkaham Mwaghavul HRM Da John Hirse who led a high powered delegation of the Mwaghavul Nation on a solidarity visit to the Ngas Nation. The delegation consisted of the Mangu Local Government Traditional Council, the 'Kapuk' (the Highest Decision-Making Body in Mwaghavul Nation), the Mwaghavul Development Association, and the Mwaghavul Youth Movement.

The Ngolong Ngas, HRM Nde Jika Golit was in high spirit as he received the delegation in his palace. The Ngolong Ngas was in company of some members of the Pankshin/Kanke Joint Traditional Council, the Ngas Council of Elders, the Ngas Development Association, the Ngas Youths Movement, and some well-respected Ngas sons and daughters.

In a welcome address, the President Ngas Development Association (worldwide), Prof. Danjuma Gokum welcomed HRM, Da John Hirse and his entourage to Ngas Land when he stated that, "the Ngas Nation does not take this kind of royal visit for granted and we are delighted to have you all. Be assured that this visit is a home coming because the Ngas and Mwaghavul are brothers." He encouraged both the Ngas and the Mwaghavul Nations to have a consistent visit of this nature in order to strengthen the historical bond between the two Nations.

In his mission statement, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, HRM Da John Hirse appreciated the Ngolong Ngas and the entire Ngas Nation for the warmth reception accorded to him and his entourage. He particularly thanked the Ngolong Ngas for finding time to wait for their visit despite his tight schedules and other engagements. He further stated that, "our visit today is with a heavy heart following the incident that took place on the 1st May, 2026 along the road in Mangu, where HRM the Ngolong Ngas was attacked by some hoodlums during a demonstration. This demonstration followed an attack on innocent citizens by suspected armed Fulanis." The Mishkaham reiterated that the act of attacking commuters is highly condemnable and he strongly believes that those who attacked the Ngolong Ngas were under the influence of substance abuse. He added that the highly exalted seat of the Ngolong will never be desecrated by any body, he rendered an apology to the Ngolong Ngas and the entire Ngas Nation on behalf of those who committed the offence and on behalf of the Mwaghavul Nation. He concluded that the Local Government Councils should enact bye-laws that will empower the traditional institution to prosecute the sales and consumption of illicit drugs and drinks.

In similar but separate remarks, the leader of the Ngas Council of Elders, Nde Amb. James Dimka and Prof. Monday Mangvwat expressed great delight over the visit and the deliberation on the ugly incident that took place. They emphasized the historical affinity of the Ngas and Mwaghavul and the need to strengthen the bond of unity which has existed for time immemorial.

Lending his voice, the Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon. Gonung Felix thanked the royal fathers for accepting to sit and address the issue amicably without the intervention of any third party. He emphasized that youths must be cautioned to avoid blocking the highways whenever an incident happens and to also avoid unguided utterances that will further escalate tension and unwarranted reactions. He concluded that this trying moment calls for unity of purpose amongst the people of Plateau State.

In his response, the Ngolong Ngas, HRM Nde Jika Golit appreciated the visit by the Mwaghavul Nation ably led by his brother, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, HRM Da John Hirse. He stated that, "this delegation is a testament of our brotherhood and our inseparable entity as one people. I firmly believe that no reasonable minds will undermine the sacred seat of the Ngolong Ngas not even among the Mwaghavul people. Therefore, my conclusion was that the perpetrators were really under the influence of probably drugs or other illicit substances. He further assured that he has forgiven the perpetrators but they should be spotted and disciplined to prevent future occurrence.

Ngolong Ngas thanked the Executive Governor of Plateau State, H.E. Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for his quick response over the incident. He maintained that the Governor, the government and the good people of Plateau State and beyond have shown great concern over the incident.

The moment was truly a healing engagement where royal pleasantries were exchanged with the hope that such an act will never resurface.
