LADURA-DU POLICE OUT-STATION COMMISSIONED IN DU, JOS SOUTH LGA
Today marks another significant step toward peace, security, and grassroots development in Du, as the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, alongside ward councilors, supervisory councilors, the Du Community Development Association, the Nigerian Police Force, and respected traditional rulers, officially commissioned the upgraded Ladura-Du Police Out-Station.
The President of the Du Community Development Association, Da Silas Pwajok Bot, welcomed the Traditional Council, members of the public, the Chairman of Jos South LGA, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, and his entourage. He applauded the chairman’s developmental strides across the local government, especially in the area of safeguarding lives and property. He also showered encomiums on the chairman for taking over and completing the project.
Da Silas Pwajok Bot further appreciated the efforts of the former Acting Gwom Du and the Director of Personnel Management, Quan’pan LGA, Mr. Rwang Gyang Rwang, alongside other illustrious sons of Du who initiated the project.
In a separate remark, the Gwom Kabong and Acting Gwom Du, HRH Da Emmanuel Pam Pogol, appealed to the government for more support to communities, while assuring the people of available land for the establishment of a divisional police headquarters in Du.
The Councilor representing Du A Ward, Hon. David D. Rwang, and the Jos South Supervisory Councilor for Works both appreciated the government for extending developmental projects to grassroots communities.
The representative of the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, DCA Admin. Abdulhameed Lawal, mni, challenged the people of Du to work hand in hand with the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies, emphasizing that security is everyone’s responsibility. He also advised the Local Government Chairman to liaise with the State Commissioner of Police toward the procurement of security equipment that would enhance surveillance and security within the locality.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Jos South LGA, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, appreciated the illustrious sons and daughters of Du, the Traditional Council, and the security agencies for their support and cooperation. According to him, “Today is not a day for long speeches, but a day to officially hand over this facility to the Nigerian Police Force.”
He further stated that the laudable achievement reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the strengthening of community policing, and ensuring that the people of Du and the entire local government area enjoy a safer and more peaceful environment. He also cautioned youths against keeping late hours unnecessarily, and going to farm alone.
The presence and support of traditional rulers at the commissioning further demonstrated the unity, cooperation, and shared vision between government and community leaders in promoting peace, justice, and grassroots development.
Security remains the foundation upon which meaningful development is built, and this police out-station will go a long way in enhancing rapid response to security challenges, boosting public confidence, and fostering harmony among residents.
The people of Jos South continue to witness purposeful leadership under the administration of Hon. Silas Patrick Dung — a leadership dedicated to service delivery, community development, and inclusive governance. Indeed, when leaders place the welfare and security of the people first, progress becomes inevitable.
Traditional rulers present at the occasion included the Gwom Rwey Za’ang, HRH Da Christopher Mancha, and the Gwom Kwang, HRH Da Raphael Gyang Bot.
Other dignitaries present were the Deputy Chairman of Jos South LGA, Ngo Lucy Kachollom Michael; the Secretary of Jos South LGA, Hon. Dusu Emmanuel; political appointees of the local government; and directors.
Incharge of the police out-station is ASP Ezekiel Yohanna, together with other police officers, Asp James Chuwang, inspector Simi Christopher, and inspector Sama'ila Audu.
The occasion was further spiced up by the thrilling cultural performance of the “Wunato Beha Du” traditional dance group.
