‎GOVERNOR MUTFWANG DECLARES TOUGHER MEASURES AGAINST INSECURITY IN PLATEAU STATE‎

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has convened an emergency State Security Council meeting aimed at addressing the emerging security challenges confronting parts of Plateau State, with heads of security agencies , Chairmen of the 17Local Government Councils and Chairman of the Plateau State Joint Traditional Council. 

The meeting which was chaired by the Governor with the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, discussed critical issues and resolutions were taken to provide precise strategies to safeguard the lives and properties of citizens.
‎Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Secretary to the Government of the State, Arc. Samuel Nanchang Jatau, said the council undertook a critical appraisal of the current security situation across the state and reached far-reaching resolutions to protect lives and property.
‎Notable recommendations and resolutions were made which include;
‎"heightened enforcement of the ban on motorcycles, night grazing and night mining activities in order to mitigate the triggers of the current security challenges. It was resolved that all ungoverned spaces, government institutions and lands would be reclaimed by security agencies with government enhancing logistics and additional motorcycles and vehicles to security agencies in order to improve security in the state with immediate effect."
‎Jatau explained that "security council agreed that synergy and intelligence between Local Government Areas, security agencies and communities must be enhanced." Adding,Council also agreed that henceforth any blockage of highways by any group would be treated as criminality, and perpetrators would face the full wrath of the law.
‎In the area of Agriculture and food security, " the State Security Council agreed that the farmlands must be protected and made safe for the farming season. Stressing that, the traditional council should have a tight grip on traditional institutions and all cultural associations operating under them."
‎"Pateau State is not only determined to secure the land and lives of the people of Plateau State but bound to delivering this mandate. Stringent measures is also declared: a war on drug dealers and carriers of and users of drugs within the State."
