KWANGA GETS FACE-LIFT AS JOS NORTH CHAIRMAN COMMISSIONS RENOVATED PHC GIFTED BY APPOINTEES

A newly renovated Primary Healthcare Centre in Kwanga, Jos North Local Government Area, was formally commissioned on Monday by the Executive Chairman of the Council, Barr. J. K. Chris, in a ceremony that drew community leaders, political appointees, and residents of the area.

The facility, described as a birthday gift to the Chairman from his political appointees, was originally slated for commissioning two weeks ago. The event was, however, deferred due to the mourning mood across Jos North, Plateau State, and the country following the Angwan Rukuba Terror Attack of May 29, 2026.
Speaking at the event, Ada Agwom Kaze, Village Head of Kwanga B, who represented the District Head, Ada Agwom Paul Ahamadu, recounted the history of the health center, disclosing that the Primary Healthcare Center was initially built through communal effort before it was handed over to government, “But there was no government impact for years until now,” he told the gathering.

Hon. Sunday G. Bunu, Chief of Staff, Jos North Local Government Council, who spoke on behalf of the appointees commended them for the gesture extended to the Kwanga community. He offered prayers for “more wisdom and togetherness that will enable us to do more political exploits in the future.”

Briefing the gathering on what necessitated the appointees to embark on this project, Hon. Collins Eze, Director, Research, Planning, and Statistics and Documentation, praised the executive chairman's efforts in ensuring quality healthcare centres in
The local government, and appreciated the unity of the Chairman’s political appointees in agreeing to give the facility a facelift.

According to him, the scope of work undertaken on the facility included total reroofing, painting, and the repair of toilet infrastructure, while noting that the project was a birthday gift to “our Principal, Barr J. K. Chris, who has been an amiable leader and mentor."

Appreciating the gesture, the Director of Health. Martha Millad expressed concern that women in the area often travel elsewhere to access healthcare. She urged residents to patronize the renovated facility, as drugs and other equipment will be provided.”

In his remarks, Barr. J. K. Chris expressed heartfelt appreciation to his political appointees “who in their wisdom thought it wise to assist him in this responsibility.”

He revealed that the dilapidated state of the centre had been on his mind for long and was “part of what he personally wanted to do for the people where he lives.”

“But my political appointees have taken this burden off me by doing it themselves,” he stated. He further pledged to fence the facility, supply drugs, beds, and other essential equipment, and ensure its upgrade.

In their goodwill messages, Mr. Luka Arin, Chairman of the Clinic, and Hon. Job Izang Ayuba, Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Council and Councillor representing Lamingo Ward, among others, lauded the Barr. Chris administration for an intervention that has restored hope to the community.
