GOVERNOR MUTFWANG RECEIVES PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL FOR SKILLS ACQUISITION CENTRE, 1000 MEGAWATTS POWER PROJECT, ADVANCE SECURITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Plateau State is set to benefit from a major federal government intervention, aimed at boosting youth employment, enhancing socio-economic development, and addressing the prevailing security challenges in the state.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, received this update during a courtesy visit from the Chairman of the Presidential Regulatory Committee on Technology Transfer, Mohammed Dahiru, alongside security expert, Rear Admiral Suleiman D. El-ladan (rtd), at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos, on April 4, 2026.

During the visit, Dr. Dahiru conveyed the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Jos. The initiative, under the National Agency for Science Nigeria infrastructure, is designed to equip young people with practical, employable skills and reduce their vulnerability to crime.

In addition, Dr. Dahiru highlighted plans for a 1,000-megawatt power project to be developed across Northern Nigeria through a proposed New Nigerian Energy Company in partnership with the United States. Plateau State has been selected as one of the pilot locations. The project is expected to significantly improve electricity supply, stimulate economic activities, and enhance regional stability.

He also extended condolences to the state government over recent security challenges and reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to collaboration on sustainable solutions.

Speaking further, Rear Admiral El-ladan emphasized the importance of strengthening security frameworks in the state. He revealed plans to deploy advanced security infrastructure under a “Community-Led Integrated Focus Protection Framework,” supported by international partnerships. According to him, the initiative will help prevent, detect, and respond swiftly to threats, ensuring lasting peace in Plateau State.
