It is with a profound sense of humility and rare privilege for Plateau state Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who had the honour of representing our revered father, the distinguished leader of the Middle Belt, an African statesman per Excellent and an accomplished philanthropist, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, at the 2026 Nwonyo Fishing Festival, held at Nwonyo Creek in Ibi, Taraba State

This revered cultural festival stands as a powerful symbol of unity and peace, consistently attracting both local and international tourists and firmly placing Taraba State on the global map. With a rich history spanning over a century, the fishing festival traces its origin to Bula Wurbo in 1861, reflecting a long-standing tradition deeply rooted in the identity of the people.

The festival remains a living testament to our enduring heritage, an expression of cultural pride that not only preserves our traditions but also serves as a vital source of livelihood for the people.

In addition, Governor Mutfwang had the honour of representing the Nigeria Governors' Forum in solidarity with Governor Agbu Kefas, reaffirming our collective commitment to support initiatives that advance tourism and sustainable development in the state.
