NZEM BEROM INTER-DISTRICTS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT RECEIVED A BOOST OF ONE MILLION (N1m) NAIRA FROM HON. DACHUNG BAGOS AND MATCH BALLS TO DISTRICTS FROM DIST. SEN. MWADKON

The opening ceremony of the 2026 Nzem Berom inter-districts Football competition, Marathon, and Golf Kitty  started on a good footing with support coming from a former House of Representatives Member, Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, who donated the sum of one million naira (₦1,000,000.) as part sponsorship, while the former senate minority leader donated one match ball to each participating district.

The Nzem Berom inter-districts Football competition opening ceremony witnessed a good turnout of soccer enthusiasts, stakeholders, traditional rulers, clergy, sons and daughters across all the forteen districts, all at the Bukuru mini stadium. While coinciding with the 2026 International Women's Day, with the chairperson of the main planning committee of the 2026 Nzem Berom, Ngo Sarah Reng Ochekpe, who made time to celebrate with the female footballers from Vwang who came to watch the boys playing.

The secretary of the 2026 Nzem Berom main planning committee, Barr. Pam Gyang Davou was one of the first dignitaries at the venue who was thrilled by sparkling football displays from start to finish.
Also the chairman, Plateau Football Association (PFA), Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande was at the Bukuru mini stadium, where he assured the Nzem Berom Sports Committee on the FA's support for grassroots football, and promised to partner with the committee by sponsoring medals and trophies for the male football event. While the team manager of Mighty Jets FC of Jos, extended an open invitation to the goalkeeper of Du District who put up a scintillating performance.

The village head of Nyango Gyel, Special adviser to Plateau state governor on grassroots football, Mr. Habila Mutla, Plateau State commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau, community leaders and government appointees were entertained by the two teams, and at the end of the opening encounter, it was Du District 2-0 Gyel District.

The Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Dr. Jacob Gyang Buba CFR, was ably represented by the Gwom Rwey Heipang, HRH. Da Paul Tadi Tok, who performed the ceremonial kickoff to kickstart the 2026 Nzem Berom inter-districts Football competition, as part of the line-up activities for the 2026 Nzem Berom festival of arts and culture, with the theme: 

"The Berom Youth and Nation-Building: Reclaiming, Rebuilding, and Harnessing Opportunities”.
The tournament is for male and female footballers respectively, with a focus to identify and harness talents at the grassroots and to set out a mechanism for marketing the players.

As the 2026 Nzem Berom inter-districts Football competition, Marathon, and Golf Kitty is ongoing, the door is still open for individuals, firms, businesses and corporate organizations who may wish to partner through support or sponsorship.

Matches will continue today in the following centres;
Riyom mini stadium will host - Aboro vs Bachi at 1p.m, and Vwang vs Riyom at 3pm.
St. Joseph Primary School Gwol-Barkin Ladi will host Gashish vs Heipang at 1p.m and Fan vs Foron at 3pm.
Bukuru mini stadium will host Kabong vs  Za'ang at 1pm and Kuru vs Du at 3pm.
