GOVERNOR MUTFWANG OPTIMISTIC THAT PLATEAU WILL TRIUMPH OVER SECURITY CHALLENGES

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed firm confidence that Plateau State will overcome its current security and socio-economic challenges. He has therefore urged citizens to remain steadfast in faith, united in purpose, and responsible in conduct as the government intensifies efforts to restore lasting peace.

Governor Mutfwang made the remarks today while delivering a goodwill message at the headquarters of the Church of Christ in All Nations (COCIN) in Jos. He gave thanks to God for His mercies and continued protection over the people of Plateau, despite what he described as persistent attempts by enemies to destabilize the state.

The Governor commended residents for their fervent prayers and steadfast solidarity with his administration in confronting criminality, banditry, and kidnapping across various communities. Reflecting on recent violent incidents in parts of Barkin-Ladi LGA, he emphasized that sincere service to God and collective commitment to righteousness would ultimately secure victory over evil plots.

He cautioned community leaders against allowing the actions of a few individuals, often driven by anger or misinformation, to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of Plateau State.

 Governor Mutfwang further urged religious, traditional, and community leaders to take proactive responsibility for maintaining peace, particularly by discouraging unlawful practices such as blocking highways or conducting unauthorized searches whenever suspicious incidents occur within their domains.

The Governor also appealed to parents across both faiths to properly guide their children and wards, warning against hasty judgments and reprisals against innocent persons. He stressed the importance of restraint, fairness, and adherence to due process during moments of tension.

Highlighting recent positive developments, Governor Mutfwang noted that Plateau State has, over the past six months, begun regaining the confidence of visitors and investors, as evidenced by an influx of guests and improved hotel occupancy rates. 

He assured residents that the government is working tirelessly to ensure farmers can safely access their farmlands in the forthcoming planting season and return unharmed, while also accelerating efforts to resettle internally displaced persons in their ancestral homes and consolidate peace across communities.

The Governor further encouraged eligible residents to participate actively in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. He specifically called on youths who have recently turned 18 to register, underscoring the importance of strengthening Plateau’s voice, and that of the Middle Belt in national discourse and democratic processes.

In his sermon titled “Growing in the Grace of God,” the Guest Preacher, Rev. Dr. Davou Dantoro, drew from 2 Peter 3:18 and Colossians 1:5-6, 10 to admonish believers to reflect Christ in their daily conduct. He emphasized that spiritual growth and maturity are essential to building a right relationship with God and fostering a peaceful society.
