NIGERIA'S VICE PRESIDENT, SENATOR KASHIM SHETTIMA PAID HOMAGE TO THE GBONG GWOM JOS, HIS MAJESTY DA DR. JACOB GYANG BUBA, CFR

The vice president of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima earlier today in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, paid homage to His Majesty, Da Dr. Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR,  The Gbong Gwom Jos, and Chairman Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, in his palace at Jishe.

In his remarks, vice president Kashim Shettima emphasized the need for unity among the Nigerian people, and noted that Nigeria has the potential to be one of the greatest countries on earth if it's citizens learn to tolerate and live in peace with one another.

The vice president stated that all Nigerians are one people tied to a common heritage, as we are all connected to each other in one way or the other. We must therefore continue to live together as one people, because what binds us together supercedes what separates us.

While responding, the highly revered monarch, His Majesty, The Gbong Gwom Jos, and Chairman Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Da Dr. Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR, welcomes the vice president to Plateau State; The home of Peace and Tourism, and also appreciates the visit to the palace as a mark of honour to the good and hospitable Plateau people.

The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Dr. Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR, emphasized on unity among Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation, for any meaningful development to take place. He further challenged the government at all levels to live up to their political promises and constitutional responsibility of protecting the citizens, by prioritizing the security of lives and properties.

The monarch also appealed to the federal government to hasten the dualization of the Akwanga - Jos Road, which is a critical highway into Plateau connecting to other states for commercial activities to strive and economic integration across states.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang appreciated the vice president's coming to Plateau.
Also among the delegation is the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
