THE 2025 PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR'S CUP, TAGGED "THE TIME IS NOW SOCCER FIESTA, KICKED-OFF IN JOS EAST LGA OF PLATEAU STATE

As the 2025 Plateau State Governor’s Cup, tagged “The Time is Now Soccer Fiesta,” kicked off today at the Jos East LGC, The opening goal of this year’s edition came from Isaac Emmanuel of Riyom LGC, wearing jersey No.10, who struck in the 47th minute to seal a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Jos South.

The encounter kept fans on the edge of their seats, with both teams showcasing quality football, grit, and a strong desire to announce their intentions early in the competition.

President of the Plateau Football Association (PFA), Hon. Prince Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, expressed his satisfaction with the warm reception and hospitality shown by the people of Jos East. He praised their passion for grassroots football and their unwavering support for the beautiful game.

The GSS Federe Football Field in Jos East was filled to capacity, drawing a vibrant mix of football enthusiasts, sports administrators, political leaders, community stakeholders, and supporters from across the state all gathered to witness the official kickoff of the prestigious tournament.

Chairman of Jos East LGC, Hon. Markus N. Hussaini, appreciated the PFA leadership for selecting Jos East to host the opening match of the 2025 Governor’s Cup. He commended the association for aligning with the sports development vision of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, particularly regarding youth empowerment and community engagement through football.
Also in attendance were notable dignitaries, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Grassroots Sports, Mr. Habila Mutla; Technical Director of Plateau United, Barr. Gideon Izang; deputy chairmen of Jos East and Jos South; pioneer chairman of Jos East LGC; special assistants to the governor on media; as well as directors from Riyom, Jos South, and Jos East LGC.
Matches continue  on Tuesday, 18th November, 2025, at St. John’s College, Jos, with two fixtures scheduled as follows

4:00 pm: Barkin Ladi vs Kanam
