THE 2025 PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR'S CUP GETS A KICKOFF DATE AFTER A SUCCESSFUL DRAWS

The 2025 Plateau State Governor's Cup tagged "The Time is Now Soccer Fiesta", got a kick-off date after a successful draws today at the Mees Palace in Rayfield, Jos.

The 2025 Plateau State Governor's Cup draws which was done  through the balloting system witnessed in attendance, football stakeholders, sports journalists, administrators, and lovers of the round leather game cutting across the seventeen local government councils of Plateau State, with Hon. Prince Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande coordinating the  well organized football draws.

The draws saw 17 teams divided into four groups, while ceding the finalists of the 2024 edition, as all the 17 Local Government Football Association Chairmen and Secretaries, watched the event with keen interest, in awe and anxiety as to which group they will fall into after the balloting.

The 2025 Governor's Cup trophy was officially unveiled during the draws, on behalf of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang.

The PFA chairman, Hon. Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande thanked the 17 Local Government Chairmen and secretaries for their usual cooperation and support. Dr Kwande praised Governor Mutfwang for supporting the game of football to grow on the Plateau, through sponsorship and encouragement, while using the opportunity to drum support for the ongoing Nigerian University (NUGA) games, with the prestigious university of Jos hosting the event.

Don Maren, Chairman of Chairmen from the 17 Local Government Football Associations, urged the local government administrators to promote homegrown talents at the grassroot, and not to bring mercineries at the detriment of the abundant talents on the Plateau.

 Plateau United FC scouting director, commended the PFA Chairman for the standard organization of the tournament and assured him of maximum support.

The successful draw saw the participating teams divided into four groups below 

GROUP A;
Jos North,
Jos East,
Langtang North, and Wase

Group B:
Shendam, 
Mangu,
Bokkos, and 
Pankshin

GROUP C:
Mikang,
Kanke,
Bassa, and Langtang South

GROUP D:
Jos South
Barkin Ladi,
Riyom,
Kanam, and 
Qua'an Pan

The momentum already gathered by this year's governor's cup preparation, tells how organized and transformed the Plateau Football Association has gone so far, under Dr. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande.

The opening ceremony of the 2025 Governor's Cup will take place in Jos East LGC, on Monday, November 17, 2025,
While the finals will be in Bokkos LGC.
Other matches will be played at various centers within Jos City.
