DINNER/AWARD NIGHT, AND 2026 NZEM (JOGO) SHEY PAS PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBERS INAUGURATED IN DU

The new year festival tagged "Nzem (jogo) shei pas" is an annual festival in Du, celebrated for years. The people of Du for decades use the festival as an opportunity to give thanks to God for life and good health in the previous year, and pray for better life and good health into a brand new year, also using the event as a platform to showcase the rich cultural artifacts of Du people in Jos North and Jos South LGC's of Plateau State, with cultural displays, and prayers to the one and only God known by our ancestors, called Dagwi.

It is on this note that the leadership of Du Community Development Association (DCDA), together with Du Traditional Council today inaugurated a seven member main planning committee for the 2026 Nzem (jogo) shei pas.
Inaugurating the committee members, the President of DCDA, Da Silas Pwajok Bot, encouraged the committee members to inject new ideas, and work within the terms of reference provided, which includes; plan and execute the event, source for funds, and can also expand the committee membership. DCDA president also appreciates the former Acting Gwom Rwey Du, for always supporting the previous Nzem shei pas festival towards uniting the entire people of Du.

The chairman of the 2026 Nzem shei pas festival, Da Chuwang Musa, appreciates the opportunity given to them in the committee to serve, while promising a better festival with the support of our sons and daughters, highlighting ways of getting funds for a successful jogo shei pas.

DCDA, also inaugurated a Dinner and Award Night Planning committee under the chairmanship of Da Engr. Rwang Jok.
The chairman of the committee appreciates DCDA and the Traditional Council for recognizing him in this capacity. In his words "since i was given birth many years ago and my growing up in Du, this is the first time we will identify and recognize our sons and daughters in Du".
On behalf of the committee members, he promised they will do their best to deliver.

Leaders of other Registered Berom Organizations (RBO's) in Du, present at the inauguration are; the BYM chairman of Du - 
Rwas Alex Chuwang Bot, who assured all the committees of full support despite the time frame.
BECO chairman of Du - Da Pam Gyang Pwajok, also declared his support for the committees on behalf of BECO, while Gwom be-wén Du, rwas Isaac Rwang, was also in attendance.

A representative of the Elders Council, Da mwakuk Louis Gambo, charged all the committees to justify the confidence reposed on them by the people of Du. Dara Louis also used the opportunity to call on the traditional council of Du, to look into expanding the scope of the Elders Council.

The acting Gwom Shen, Da Chuwang Dajik, also challenged the committee members to put in their best in the task ahead.
While Secretary of Du Traditional Council who doubles as the Gwom Rahol Kanang, Da Stephen Nyam Kanang, expresses optimism going by the composition of the committee members, he called on the people of Du to support DCDA, support the committees, and unite beyond politics, working towards the progress and development of the land, and God will be pleased.

The Acting Gwom Rwey Du, who doubles as the Gwom Kabong, His Royal Highness, Da Emmanuel Nyam Pam Pogo, assured all the committee members of the full support, and backing of the traditional council. The monarch spoke passionately once again about the land, challenging the people of Du to contribute meaningfully to the Wurom Legacy Trust Fund. In his words "this is an investment for the future, our children unborn will benefit". He prayed to God for blessings upon the land.
