GOVERNOR MUTFWANG FLAGS OFF AGRO-LOGISTICS HUBS IN MANGU, SHENDAM TO BOOST ECONOMIC LINKAGES, RURAL TRANSFORMATION

As part of strategic efforts to revitalize Plateau State’s rural economy and promote agribusiness, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has officially flagged off the construction of ultra-modern agro-logistics hubs in Mangu and Shendam Local Government Areas. These hubs are envisioned to serve as major economic catalysts for the Central and Southern Senatorial Zones respectively.

The projects are being implemented under the Plateau State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), which the Governor described as “a reliable platform that connects farmers and their produce to viable markets.”

“When completed, the hubs in Mangu, Shendam, and Jingir will revolutionize agricultural trade in Plateau State,” Governor Mutfwang affirmed. “Our focus is to empower the rural farmer by eliminating barriers between the farm and the marketplace.”

The State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Daniel Temtsen, lauded the Governor’s bold leadership and commitment to rural development, particularly the prompt release of a N2 billion counterpart fund. According to him, this financial commitment unlocked access to additional funding necessary for the construction of the three zonal agro hubs.

Engr. Temtsen also revealed that RAAMP is currently undertaking the construction of over 331 kilometers of rural roads across the state to facilitate the seamless movement of goods and services. “This is about laying a solid foundation for a sustainable and inclusive rural economy,” he emphasized.

Chairman of Mangu LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Mwolpun, welcomed the project, describing it as a game-changer that would elevate Mangu into a thriving commercial hub due to its strategic location. “This initiative will not only boost trade but will redefine the economic landscape of Plateau State,” he remarked.

In a similar vein, the Chairman of Shendam LGA, Hon. Nicolas Kemi Nshe, commended Governor Mutfwang’s developmental strides, saying: “Governor Mutfwang has achieved more in two years than many have done in a decade. We in Shendam are grateful.”
Hon. Nshe further disclosed plans by the Shendam Local Government Council to construct an 84-room capacity “Shendam Continental Hotel” in Abuja, aimed at increasing investment visibility and revenue generation for Southern Plateau.

Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang also paid an inspection visit to the upgraded Level Two Primary Healthcare Clinic in Kwang, Qua’anpan LGA. He appealed to the host community to provide additional land for future expansion of the facility and urged the contractor to ensure timely and quality delivery.

At the Mangu project site, the contractors, Mesoto Group, described the initiative as “visionary and unprecedented.” Briefing the Governor on the scope of work, Managing Director of the firm, Mmesoma C. Dickson, said the facility is “sectionalized to cater to a wide range of stakeholders across the agro-value chain.”

“This is not just another market,” Dickson stressed. “It is a dynamic hub of opportunities that will add value to agriculture, enhance local enterprise, create jobs, and strengthen food security. We are grateful to Governor Mutfwang for entrusting us with this legacy project.”

He assured the Governor and the people of Plateau State of timely project completion, adding that engagements with youth groups, market associations, and other stakeholders have been overwhelmingly supportive. “With God on our side, and under the visionary leadership of Governor Mutfwang, we are confident of delivering this project ahead of schedule,” he concluded.

The agro-logistics initiative is a cornerstone of the Mutfwang administration’s broader development agenda anchored on agricultural revitalization, rural transformation, and inclusive governance.
