NIGERIA FOOTBALL FAMILY BIDS FAREWELL TO LATE CHIEF R.A MANNOCK
The President of Nigeria Football Referees' Association (NFRA), Hon. Dr. Sani Zubairu (Fifa Rtd) led a delegation of the noble association to Lumchan, Lankan in Pankshin LGC of Plateau State for the burial of chief Reuben A. Mannock, former President of the NFRA.
Speaking during the funeral service held at Church Of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Dadin-Kowa, Jos. The NFRA financial secretary, Comrade Jibrin Kamga Bancir in a bereaved mood eulogized the late elderstateman as a father whose good legacies and positive impact in the refereeing profession cannot be forgotten.
Comrade Jibrin Bancir, speaking on behalf of the refereeing family attested to how Pa Mannock was very instrumental in training many referees up to Fifa cadre.
A board member of the Plateau Football Association (PFA), Comrade Joshua Baba Gotom spoke onbehalf of the Plateau FA/NFF, encouraged the family to be strong and accept the will of God Almighty in good faith.
Late Chief Mannock was a distinguished football referee and administrator per excellence, he was the first Nigerian North of the Niger to be elected President of Nigeria Football Referees' Association in 1986, a position he held for two terms. In addition, he was one of the longest serving F.A member in Plateau State, having served for ten years till 1996.
The present NFRA President, Hon. Dr. Sani Zubairu extended his deepest condolences to the immediate family and the entire football family.
Receiving the NFRA President, Hon. Sani Zubairu in Jos today were the Zonal Referees Coordinator of North Central Zone - Felicia Okwugba (Fifa Rtd), Chairman, Plateau State Football Referee's Council - Joshua Baba Gotom, elder Joseph Bwondi Rtd, elder Baba Dewan Rtd, Fifa Rtd Victoria Cuktu and members of Plateau council who dressed in their uniform to pay their last respect to the late elderstateman.
