RENOVATED MUSEUM AND GIFT SHOP HANDED OVER TO JOS WILDLIFE PARK BY ACReSAL

Renovated Museum and Gift Shop Handed Over to Jos Wildlife Park by ACReSAL 

Jos, Plateau State

In a significant boost to tourism and conservation efforts in Plateau State, the Plateau State Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project officially handed over a newly renovated museum and gift shop to the Jos Wildlife Park today. The ceremony, held at the park, was attended by government officials, stakeholders in the tourism sector, and members of the local community.

The renovation of the museum and gift shop is part of ACReSAL's broader initiative to enhance the resilience of local ecosystems and promote sustainable tourism. The project aims to improve the livelihoods of communities while preserving the rich biodiversity .

During the handover ceremony, the Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, represented by the  project engineer Stephen Machack explained the importance of the museum and gift shop in educating visitors about the unique wildlife and ecosystems of Plateau State. "This facility will not only serve as a place for learning and appreciation of our natural heritage but will also provide economic opportunities for local artisans and vendors," he stated.

The renovated museum features interactive exhibits showcasing the diverse flora and fauna of the region, as well as the cultural heritage of the indigenous communities. The gift shop offers a range of locally made crafts, souvenirs, and educational materials, providing visitors with a chance to take a piece of Plateau's rich culture home with them.

In his remarks, the General Manager ,Tourism Corporation,  Mr Chuwang Pwajok, expressed gratitude to the ACReSAL project for their support. "This renovation will greatly enhance the visitor experience at the park and contribute to our conservation efforts. We are committed to protecting our wildlife and educating the public about the importance of biodiversity," he said.

The handover ceremony concluded with a guided tour of the renovated facilities, where attendees were able to see firsthand the improvements made and the potential for increased visitor engagement.

As the Jos Wildlife Park prepares to welcome more visitors, the community looks forward to the positive impact this initiative will have on local tourism and conservation efforts in the state.
