GOVERNOR MUTFWANG COMMISSIONS E-LIBRARY & ICT CENTER AT GSS KYAN RIKKOS
Government Secondary School, Kyan Rikkos, Jos North, achieved a significant milestone on Saturday, February 15, 2025, as His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, commissioned an e-Library and ICT Center.
The facility, donated by JeJe Riders Nigeria as part of its Together Against Drug Abuse Project, the e-library contained newly purchased Laptops, with solar power system as well as Ethernet facilities, this was achieved in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and many other partners to combat drug abuse and enhance digital learning among students.
Representing Governor Mutfwang at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, commended JeJe Riders Nigeria for the laudable initiative, describing it as a remarkable demonstration of corporate social responsibility. He emphasized the Plateau State Government’s commitment to ICT-driven development, citing the recent launch of the Plateau State Agro Innovation Market-Space and the Smart Education Initiative, with Science School Kuru as the pilot center.
Dr. Shurkuk noted that JeJe Riders Nigeria’s intervention aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to drive education and youth empowerment. He encouraged other organizations to emulate such efforts in fostering digital literacy and combating social vices among students.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by representatives from NDLEA, Traditional leaders, school management, students, and other stakeholders who lauded the project as a transformative step toward quality education and drug abuse prevention in the state, there was also enlightening workshop against Drug abuse at the event.
